Technický a Skúšobný Ustav Stavebný, n.o. (TSUS) Slovak Association for ETICS

Prof. Zuzana Sternová, PhD., completed her university education at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the STU in Bratislava in 1971, in 2004 she was appointed as university professor. She is an authorized engineer, a professionally qualified person for energy certification of buildings and a forensic expert. The professional activities are mainly focused on research, in the area of energy performance of buildings, renovation of existing buildings and building thermal protection, design, consulting and diagnostics. Author of some national technical standards (thermal protection of buildings, performance of ETICS). Her publication activities are related to energy performance of buildings, indoor climate, thermal protection, ETICS and renewal of existing buildings. Starting 1978 she is lecturer on technical universities. Participation in different research projects on national and international level. She is the chairwomen of the Slovak Association for ETICS since the foundation in 2000, the vice-president of EAE and since 2008 she is the director of the Building Testing and Research Institute, NPO (Technický a skúšobný ústav stavebný, n.o.).

REQUIREMENTS FOR THERMAL PROTECTION OF BUILDINGS AND THEIR IMPACT ON ETICS AND REQUIRED PROPERTIES OF ITS COMPONENTS

Based on the third phase of computational derivation, the cost-optimal minimum requirements currently are determined for the energy efficiency of buildings. A prerequisite for meeting the requirements for construction and renovation levels in existing buildings is the provision of efficient thermal protection of the building envelope. The renovation of external walls using ETICS has a significant impact. Tightening the requirements for thermal protection requires the application of higher thicknesses of thermal insulation. Ensuring the stability of the installed ETICS necessitates thermal insulation product requirements expansion, including not only TR but also CS(10) and others. These products are also influenced by the production process, particularly in the case of MW-based thermal insulation plates.
