PS AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY: TECHNICAL STANDARDS FOR THERMAL
INSULATION PRODUCTS IN ETICS IN SLOVAKIA

The concept of the circular economy has gained prominence in recent years, presenting an alternative to the traditional linear model. It has been a focal point of EU policies since 2015. The transition from a linear economy to a circular one, aimed at preserving the value of products, materials, and resources within the economy for as long as possible while minimizing waste generation, is crucial for the EU’s efforts in developing a sustainable, low-carbon, and resource-efficient economy. EPS is a material that is 100% recyclable, offering significant benefits. Recycling EPS not only saves money and energy but also reduces environmental impact. In Slovakia, EPS manufacturers have embraced the principles of the circular economy since 2004. This presentation will showcase projects implemented in this area within Slovakia. Additionally, it will highlight other initiatives focusing on quality monitoring of EPS boards in the Slovak market, along with minimum requirements for EPS product properties and existing application standards for thermal insulation products in ETICS within Slovakia.
