Małgorzata Niziurska, Ph.D.

She is a graduate of the Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. Since 2001, she is associated with the Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials. Head of the Department of Gypsum and Construction Chemistry since 2008, where she was responsible for testing construction products and fire safety. Currently, he is the Deputy Director of Ł-ICIMB for Research and Commercialization. She is a member of the Polish Committee for Standardization (PKN) Technical Committees: PKN/TC 211, PKN/TC 184, PKN/TC 194, PKN/TC 180. She is an author of many publications and expert opinions on construction products research and technology, fire safety, and durability of finishing materials.

THE IMPORTANCE OF UNDERSTANDING MEASUREMENT UNCERTAINTY FOR RESEARCH RESULTS EVALUATION AND INTERPRETATION

In this presentation, we will explore the significance of uncertainty in evaluating test results, a critical aspect for laboratories, their customers, and all stakeholders engaged in result interpretation. This significance becomes particularly pronounced when tests are utilized to validate compliance or non-compliance with established requirements. Understanding the uncertainty associated with test results is crucial, especially when they undergo repetition, comparison, or are reported against technical specifications. The results comparability can be effectively assessed by solely considering measurement uncertainty. Examples will illustrate these concepts in relation to specific requirements and standardized test methods.
